Artist Statement
My work is rooted in the relationship between the environment and the individual. Much of the imagery for my work derives from architecture and objects of the urban environment such as a chain linked fences, telephone wires or decaying surfaces covered in fresh paint.
Geometry serves as the framework where I am able to reconfigure space to accentuate the beauty and mystery of everyday places. I pay special attention to the subtleties and relationships between competing textures, shapes and colors. Through the use of repetition, I also examine ideas of ritual and order.
My work is slow and deliberate. I carefully combine materials to create both dense and delicate surfaces. Through this meticulous process, I attempt to reinvent the tension and harmony that exist within the urban landscape.
